The Manhattan, Done Right
By Hauppauge Wine
Spirit-forward and elegant, the Manhattan is what you make when you want to feel like a grown-up. Rye gives it backbone; vermouth gives it depth.
Ingredients
- 2 oz rye whiskey
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Brandied cherry, to garnish
Method
Add the rye, vermouth, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice. Stir — don't shake — for about 30 seconds until well chilled and silky. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Tips
Keep your vermouth in the fridge after opening; it's a wine and will fade if left out. Try a 2:1 ratio for a drier, bolder drink.
